frequently asked questions
What ages do you work with?
I provide nutrition counseling for adolescents and adults of all ages. Everyone’s relationship with food and body is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet you where you are in your stage of life.
How do telehealth sessions work?
Sessions are held virtually through a secure video platform. You’ll receive a private link ahead of time. Just click to join from your phone, tablet, or computer. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of telehealth since you can join from the comfort of home, work, or even a quiet dorm room.
Do you take insurance?
Ally Green Nutrition does not bill insurance companies directly. However, I can provide you with a super bill for submission to your insurance. To find out if your insurance offers reimbursement for nutrition services or telehealth services, please reach out to your insurance company directly. I am licensed in California, Massachusetts, Arizona, Michigan, Virginia, and Illinois.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to work with you?
No referral is required to begin nutrition counseling. You can reach out directly to schedule a session. If you’d like to use insurance, some plans may ask for documentation from your doctor, but I can guide you through that process if needed. Many clients start on their own without a referral, especially if they’re looking for support with intuitive eating, disordered eating, or improving their relationship with food.
What is your hourly rate?
My session fee is $200 for initial sessions and $150 for follow-up sessions. I’m happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first nutrition counseling session is all about getting to know you. We’ll talk about your goals, your history with food and body image, and any health concerns. I’ll ask questions to better understand your current eating patterns, challenges, and supports. From there, we’ll start building a plan together, one that feels realistic, compassionate, and tailored to your needs.
Do you provide meal plans?
Rather than rigid meal plans, I help you create flexible, realistic options that support your health and lifestyle. Together, we’ll explore foods you enjoy and build confidence in making choices that feel good for you.
How often will I meet with you?
That depends on your goals, needs, and where you’re starting from. In the beginning, many clients find it helpful to meet weekly or every other week for more consistent support. Over time, sessions may space out as you build confidence and tools to navigate on your own. We’ll decide together what feels sustainable and supportive for you.
How do I know if nutrition counseling is right for me?
If you’ve ever felt stuck in your relationship with food, overwhelmed by diet culture, or unsure how to care for your health without restriction, nutrition counseling can help. We’ll figure out together if it’s a good fit.
